Our model

Consistency today.
Possibility tomorrow.

Resources, advocacy, and support for foster youth through empowerment, education, and community.

01

Consistent, caring adults

Research, including studies conducted by Princeton University specifically for TAP, shows that education as a point of stability and connections with consistent, caring adults are key factors in success for foster youth. Our team forms a dependable network of support.

02

The right support, at the right time

We place special emphasis on the transition into and through middle school, when achievement gaps between foster youth and their peers can widen. Focused support now can reduce the need for later intervention and improve the likelihood of high school graduation and a stable adulthood.

03

Care for the whole child

Our education-focused model nurtures academic achievement, emotional resilience, and a deep sense of belonging. Every child gains skills, relationships, and confidence to thrive in both school and life.

04

Free, for the long term

All our services are completely free of charge and designed around the long-term needs of each child. We work with families and community partners to build a strong support network as youth move toward independence.

“From the bench, I have witnessed our system’s gaps first-hand, including a lack of consistent care and support for our middle school children. The Academy Project fills this need like no other organization. I have seen their safe, loving, and educational environment turn around the lives of middle schoolers for whom previous services simply didn’t work.”The Hon. Sherri Sobel · Former LA juvenile court referee and California Juvenile Court Judge of the Year
